Basic information

Erasmus+ Estudis KA103      PIC-999846707 - OID-E10208680

What is it?

ERASMUS+ is the EU's programme to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe throughout the 2021-2027 period.

The programme supports the physical and blended mobility of students in any study field and cycle (undergrad, master and PhD level).

Students can either study abroad at a partner higher education institution or undertake a traineeship at a company, research institute, laboratory, organisation or any relevant workplace abroad.

Student mobility at higher education institutions is included in the ERASMUS+ KA131 programme.

General Information

The ERASMUS+ Programme enables you to take part of your studies at a European university that has signed an exchange agreement for your study programme.

Length of the Stay

The minimum study period at a host university is three months and may not exceed 12 months within one study cycle (undergrad, master and PhD level), including a supplementary traineeship period. Students who have previously completed an ERASMUS+ stay may apply for another exchange, provided that both stays combined do not exceed 12 months within the same study period. This does not apply to students on degree programmes in medicine who may stay for up to 24 months.

In addition, students who undertake their mobility in the first semester may request to extend their stay up to 12 months, as per the criteria and requirements set out in the call.

Enrolment Details

Course fees must be paid at the UIB. Students are exempted from any tuition, admin or exam fees, as well as any charges to access laboratories or libraries at the host university. Small fees for insurance, student union membership or use of material/equipment may still apply, under the same conditions as those for local students.

Selected students must enrol for the subjects to be taken at the UIB over Acadèmic within the specified enrolment period. Enrolment for the subjects/credits to be taken at the host university must be carried out directly at the corresponding admin services.

Language Requirements

Host universities may recommend or require students have a certain language level. Students must fulfil any language requirement at the time they apply via Acadèmic.

You may find information on language requirements on each university's website. You are advised to visit your host institution's website for any possible changes to requirements.

Applying for a Place

Requirements

  • Be enrolled at the UIB or one of its affiliated centres in the current academic year and for the year when the mobility stay is to be undertaken
  • Study an official higher education programme at the UIB leading to the award of a recognised university or higher-level qualification, including a PhD
  • Have passed a minimum of 60 credits at the time of application, and be enrolled in the second year of higher education studies (except master's and PhD students)
  • Be Spanish nationals or residents of an EU member state, or any other country that takes part in the ERASMUS+ programme
  • Be a national of a third country not included in the programme but hold a valid residence permit to reside in Spain for the duration of the mobility stay. In this instance, applicants shall be responsible for obtaining a visa and/or any other permits required for their stay in the host country
  • Accredit the language level required by the host university, where applicable. Applicants must submit this accreditation at the time of application, in accordance with the table of equivalences for the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), published by the UIB Language Service. In any event, applicants are advised to visit the host university's website.

Selected students must take an online level test on the Online Language Support (OLS) platform prior to their stay. (View the 'Relevant Information for Selected Students' section.)

Place Application Procedure

  1. Ensure that you meet the requirements to participate in the programme (credit and language requirements, etc.)
  2. Get informed and decide which university you would like to study at, in accordance with the number of places available for each call
  3. Contact the ERASMUS+ tutors or mobility coordinators for guidance on which place best matches your profile
  4. Fill in the ERASMUS+ application in Acadèmic. You may apply for up to eight places, in order of preference
  5. Accredit the language level for the requested universities in the Exchange Details section. Students may accredit their language level by submitting a certificate that is in line with the table of equivalences for CEFR language levels, published by the UIB Language Service. In the case of universities that require a certificate, it is essential that applicants submit the accreditation indicated, in accordance with the information concerning language level requirements specified on the host university's website
  6. Attach the following documents to the Acadèmic application form:
    1. A photocopy of your ID card, with both sides scanned on the same page
    2. Language proficiency certificate required by the requested universities, where applicable
  7. Students enrolled in the last year of their degree programme who plan to undertaken an Erasmus+ exchange during their master's degree, as well as students enrolled on an official master's programme at the UIB, need to formalise their application in-person at the International Relations Office.

Place Allocation Procedure

Once the deadline for submitting applications is closed, the International Relations Office (SRI) shall carry out the corresponding review and a period for amendments will be opened.

Students will be informed at all times on the status of their application over the Student Portal, where they will receive all relevant notifications, as well as the final resolution.

Procedure for Accepting/Declining a Place

Once students have provisionally been allocated a place, a period will be opened for them to accept or decline it. After this deadline, students who fail to accept the allocated place shall be excluded and may not undertake a mobility stay on this programme in the 2023-24 academic year.

In any event, accepting a place does not automatically lead to admission at the host university, which shall ultimately be responsible for accepting the selected candidates. In order to be admitted, students must fill in and submit all the documents required by the host university within the specified deadline.

Students who have been allocated places on more than one mobility programme may only benefit from one place per academic year. However, in the event that places remain vacant after all selection processes for mobility programmes in the upcoming academic year have been closed, a decision will be made on whether said students may take advantage of an additional place.

Relevant Information for Selected Students

Enrolling at the UIB

Enrolment must be done within the deadlines set out in the enrolment calendar and always prior to starting the mobility stay. Selected ERASMUS+ students must refer to the Admin Services at the UIB to enrol for the credits or subjects in their online learning agreement (OLA). Online enrolment is only available for subjects set to be taken at the UIB.

The subjects set out in the learning agreement, and its subsequent modifications, must at all times be taken at the host university during the academic year when the exchange takes place, pursuant to applicable regulations. In this sense, students must adapt to the assessment criteria and exam sessions specified by the host university.

Any subjects that are not included in the learning agreement that students take at the host university shall not be part of the exchange programme and, consequently, not be subject to academic recognition at the UIB. Nor will they be elegible for mobility financial support.

Online Linguistic Suport - OLS

Online Linguistic Support (OLS) has been designed to assist ERASMUS+ programme participants in improving their knowledge of the language in which they will work or study during their stay abroad, as well as remove any obstacles to participation in mobility programmes.

All participating students are required to take a language proficiency test at the start of their exchange. Moreover, they will be able to take an online course in line with their test results. Before starting their mobility stay, students will receive an e-mail invitation to access the OLS platform.

Extending your stay

Only ERASMUS+ students who undertake their stay in the first semester of the academic year may request an extension.

In order for their extension to be authorised, students must submit the extension application, duly filled-in and signed, alongside the learning agreement for second semester subjects (at least 18 credits) signed by the UIB and the host university. Whether students who are granted an extension benefit from an Erasmus grant or not during this extension period will be subject to budget availability.

Students who are authorised to extend their stay must enrol for the credits set out in the learning agreement for the second semester.

Extension application deadline for the 2021-22 academic year - 18th February 2022
