Exchange Agreements
What is it?
Would you like to study in a non-EU country? If so, you can do it through one of the student exchange agreements that the UIB has signed with the overseas universities listed in Current Calls section below.
These agreements offer you the chance to do part of your studies at an overseas university without having to pay registration fees at the host institution.
The length of the exchanges—one semester, or a full academic year—depends on the academic calendar at the host university, which normally differs from that of the UIB.
If you are interested in a place, you need to apply over Acadèmic during the academic year prior to undertaking your exchange, and within the open call for applications period.

Applying for a Place
Requirements
- Be enrolled at the UIB or one of its affiliated centres in the current academic year, and be enrolled in an official higher education programme leading to the award of a recognised university qualification at the time the application is submitted
- Have passed at last 90 credits at the time the application is submitted
- Accredit the language level required by the host university. Applicants are advised to visit the host university's website for further information.
Place Application Procedure
Applicants must follow the steps below:
- Get informed and decide which university they would like to study at, in accordance with the available calls for their studies listed on the SRI website
- Fulfil the requirements set out in the call
- Contact the academic coordinator for guidance on which place best matches their profile
- Fill in the 'Student Exchange Agreements' request over Acadèmic. Applicants may select up to five different universities in order of preference
- Students only need to fill in the 'Language Level' section, included in the application form, if they are able to provide documentary proof of their language level. Students may fulfil this requirement by submitting an accreditation that is in line with the table of equivalences for the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), published by the UIB Language Service.
It is essential for applicants to submit the accreditation specified in point five for universities that require a certificate, in accordance with the information on language level requirements on the host university's website.
Once candidates have filled in the application form, they must attach the following documents:
- A photocopy of their ID card
- Language proficiency certificate required by the requested universities, where applicable.
There is no need for students to submit their academic transcript, since it will be automatically incorporated into the application, so that the academic coordinator may view it directly.
Place Allocation Procedure
Once the deadline for submitting applications is closed, the International Relations Office (SRI) shall carry out the corresponding review and a five-day period for amendments will be opened.
Once this period comes to an end, the reviewed applications that meet the requirements will be sent to the academic coordinators so that they can select candidates, in accordance with the principles of equality, merit and ability, and placing special emphasis on the average grade on students' academic record, language level accreditation and the requested host university. The number of credits that students have passed will also be considered.
Students will be informed of the provisional allocation of places via the Student Portal on the date specified in the call.
Relevant Information for Selected Students
Once you have been selected you must:
- Accept or decline the place within the deadline set out in the call
- Submit the required application documents and the 'Learning Agreement' (see the 'Documents' section below), duly signed by the student and the UIB, within the deadlines established by the host university. SRI staff can help you with this procedure
- Upon receiving your application, the host university will send you a letter of acceptance, which will make it easier for you to apply for a visa
- Find accommodation in the host country with the assistance of your host university
- Apply for a visa, where necessary, at the embassy or consulate of the host country, and take out medical and accident insurance to cover you during your trip and throughout your stay.
