Access for students with foreign university studies
General information
It is intended that a student can ask the access way referred to in article 30 of the Royal Decree 412/2014 when a student has studied partial or complete foreign university studies which have not obtained the homologation of its degree in the Spanish State.
Application terms
The terms that students have to present the access application form will be the ones that the Governing Board decides every academic year.
Admission procedure
Studies with limited number of places
In the case of the degrees with limited number of places, and once the numerus clausus is established, the responsible centres could propose the number of students they want to admit that have the corresponding recognition document of a minim of 30 credits.
The proposed number may not be less, under no circumstances, than the two per cent of the proposed numerus clausus.
Admission criteria
The Students Service will make a list with a preference order based on the following criteria:
- First of all, the group of applications of students from degrees of the same branch of knowledge will be ordered. In case of transfers from degrees that qualify for the exercise of professional regulated activities; firstly, will be ordered the group of applications from students from the same regulated qualification, and secondly, the rest of applications from the same branch of knowledge.
- Afterwards, will be ordered the group of applications from students from the degrees of different branches of knowledge.
- Once applied the previous criteria, the sort criterion in each group will be the academic expedient average grade, calculated according to the Royal Decree 1125/2003, from September the 5th, by which the European system of credits is established and the qualification system in university degrees of official character and validity throughout the Spanish country, for the adapted studies to the European higher education area.
The students who have not obtained the favourable recognition transcript of a minimum of 30 credits, or despite having it, have not obtained a place because of the academic expedient, should incorporate into the general admission process.
Exceptionally, deans and directors of the study centres with limited number of places could authorize students from other universities or students from other official degrees from the same UIB who confirm to have 120 recognised credits to have direct access, as long as personal, space and material resources allow it. The number of admitted students through this exceptional way won't account for the total fixed.
Studies without limited number of places
In the case of the studies without limited number of places, the number of students who can access will not be limited.
Documentation to be provided
Documents
Originals and photocopies or certified copies of the following documents:
- National Identity Card / passport / NIE.
- Academic certification with the academic average grade (legalised through diplomatic channels, if it is a non-EU university ).
- Programmes of the passt subjects (also accepted in English).
- Academic certification issued by ANECA (Spanish National Agency for Assessment and Accreditation), with the academic average grade equivalent in Spain.

Legalization of foreign documents
For the legalisation of documents through diplomatic channels, these must be successively presented at:
- Ministry of Education from the country of origin, for degrees and studies certificates.
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the country where these documents were issued.
- Spanish diplomatic or consular representation in the country of origin.
If the country where the studies were undertaken signed the Hague Convention, is not necessary to do the previous legalisation, it is enough if the country authorities stamp it properly.
This requirement of legalisation won't be required for the documents issued by the authorities of the European Union member states or signatory of the Agreement on the European Economic Area.
Legalisation must be explicit in the original documents.
The documentation will be presented, if needed, with the Spanish official translation.
Official translation
All the documents issued in a foreign language by the competent authorities of the country of origin, should be accompanied by the Spanish translation, that could do:
- Any diplomatic or consular representation of the Spanish state abroad.
- The diplomatic or consular representation in Spain of the student country or, if necessary, the country in which the document was issued.
- A sworn translator, duly authorised or registered in Spain.
