If you answer yes to any of these questions, you're sure to be interested in taking part in the UIB Mobility Mentoring Programme.
The University of the Balearic Islands, via the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Student and Graduate Affairs, and Employability, alongside the International Relations Offices and in cooperation with ESN Baleares SC Association, is running the International Mobility Mentor Programme for the 2018-19 academic year, to enhance the cultural, academic and language participation of international students during their stay at the UIB.
The Mentor Programme, akin to a Buddy System or Programme, is already in place at the UIB and at many higher education institutions in several European and non-European countries. The UIB has deemed internationalisation to be a fundamental strategic approach to drive success, setting up this programme to help support its international outreach.
With this in mind, we encourage ALL UIB students on any of our official programmes who would like to benefit from a shared enriching experience to take part.
Participation in the activity offers several benefits, including:
- Academic accreditation for activities undertaken within the International Mobility Mentor Programme framework through ECTS credits. Student mentors will be awarded three ECTS credits for 'accredited academic activities' as part of their education programme, if they receive a satisfactory final assessment mark. In this regard, students should spend 75 hours in total on these activities
- Boosting your chances to take part in UIB mobility programmes. In this sense, taking part in this activity may be awarded a positive weighting in the selection criteria for places in mobility calls
- Improving your CV. Students who pass this activity will be awarded with an accreditation certificate as a mentor from the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Student and Graduate Affairs, and Employability
- Boosting your employability. When companies select candidates for a position, they look for students with an international profile
- Boosting your own sense of satisfaction whilst helping others
- Improving your cross-cutting skills to help you succeed in finding a job and your professional standing
- Enhancing your knowledge about your surroundings
- Meeting other UIB students and those from other universities
- Participating in training and leisure activities
- Enjoying your free time with other UIB students and those from other universities.
So, what are you waiting for? Sign up for the programme and get involved!
